Ernesto Muñoz sobre Nana Hernández
El siglo XXI ha encontrado al dibujo como una disciplina autónoma vigorosa y de gran vigencia, Una de sus cultoras más importantes es Nana Hernández en la cual encontramos a una vigorosa investigadora de formas inéditas de gran contenido visual y psicológico. Hernández aprisiona imágenes que prueban mundos por descubrir y donde la nota exacta de color dan suspenso a este bello conjunto enmarañado de líneas, La artista eleva esta disciplina del dibujo a un nivel insospechado cautivando al espectador.
El mundo surrealista que conjuga la artista con influencias latinoamericanas nos lleva recordar al gran dibujante Escher con sus increíbles imágenes que reaparecen en Hernández.

María Alejandra Hernández: El destino de Venezuela siempre me va a importar.
La artista marabina, ahora radicada en España, asegura que regresará a su país.
María Alejandra Hernández Matheus, viene del diseño gráfico; en su natal Maracaibo por los años 90 del siglo pasado, era una de las más importantes diseñadoras de la ciudad; como testimonio de esa época quedan las portadas que hizo para discos de la megabanda Guaco, de Carangano y de Astolfo Romero, entre otros.
Aunque se graduó en mercadeo y se dedicó a la publicidad y al diseño gráfico; desde muy joven, Nana Hernández, como también es conocida en el mundo del arte, dibuja. “Tenía la necesidad de plasmar mis experiencias de viajes y mis estudios sobre escultura y arquitectura de diferentes civilizaciones”, nos dice por teléfono desde Palma de Mallorca, España, donde vive desde hace varios años.

La artista venezolana trabaja básicamente con tinta china. “A medio camino entre lo figurativo y la abstracción”, comenta.
Los grises dominan su trabajo, pero en algunos de sus cuadros los colores vivos toman protagonismo para dar vida a figuras humanas y geométricas en una simbiosis muy original.
En España, la marabina se abre paso y su nombre comienza a tomar relevancia; lo mismo ocurre en algunos países de América Latina donde sus dibujos están bien cotizados.
Consultada sobre su relación con su país de origen, Hernández nos dice con total claridad:” el destino de Venezuela siempre me va a importar, espero regresar pronto, allá hay mucho por hacer”.
Nos indica que tiene algunas propuestas para trabajar en el país suramericano: “la de una línea de ropa con mis dibujos me entusiasma mucho, pero aún hay algunos detalles que no hemos precisado. Tenía planeado un viaje a Venezuela pero esto del Covid 19 lo ha trastocado todo, mientras esta dificultad pasa sigo trabajando y pendiente de mis 2 hijos”, acota.
Nana Hernández afirma ser súper optimista, lo que corroboran sus amigos más cercanos, y con un “vendrán buenos tiempos”, despide la conversación con Entre Todos D.

María Alejandra Hernández: «My drawings are halfway between the figurative and the abstract»

The Venezuelan artist has just presented in Spain «Drawings and Recipes», her first book.
María Alejandra Hernández Matheus, comes from graphic design; In her native Maracaibo in the 90s of the last century she was one of the most important designers in the city, as a testimony of that time are the covers she made for records of many important bands, such as Guaco, Carangano and Astolfo Romero, among others.
Although she graduated in marketing and was in the advertising and graphic design field; from a very young age Nana Hernández, as she is also known in the art world, found herself drawing. «I had the urge to capture my travel experiences and my studies on sculpture and architecture of different civilizations,» she tells us by phone from Palma de Mallorca, Spain, where she has lived for several years.
The Venezuelan artist works basically with Chinese ink. «Halfway between the figurative and the abstract,» she comments.
Grays dominate her work, but in some of her paintings, bright colors take center stage to give life to human and geometric figures in a very original symbiosis.
In Spain, her name begins to gain relevance; The same occurs in some Latin American countries where her drawings are well valued.
Asked about her relationship with her country of origin, Hernández tells us with certainty: «the fate of Venezuela will always matter to me, I hope to return soon, there is much to do there.»
She tells us that she has some projects to work on in the South American country: “a clothing line with my drawings makes me very excited, but there are still some details that we have not yet to figure out. She had planned a trip to Venezuela but the Covid 19 changed everything: While this crisis perseveres, I continue working» – she has just presented her first book «Dibujos y Recetas» (Drawings and Recipes) in Spain, and designed a new collection of fabrics for an important company in Switzerland.
Nana Hernández claims to be super optimistic, which is corroborated by her closest friends, and with a «good times are ahead «, she dismisses the conversation with Entre Todos D.
